It is the first time a Premier League referee will wear a “RefCam” for Crystal Palace’s Monday match versus Manchester United. In order to gather footage for a special short presentation showcasing match officials that will air later this year, Jarred Gillett will wear the camera. The Premier League released the following statement: “While this footage won’t be shown live, fans will be able to see it later in the year as part of a programme produced by Premier League Productions (PLP) that aims to provide more information and insight into the demands of Premier League officiating. A head-mounted gadget that is included into the standard referee communications system makes up the technology. “The IFAB, the Premier League, PGMOL, and both clubs have permitted its one-time usage for educational purposes. “We express our gratitude to Manchester United and Crystal Palace for their invaluable assistance with this project.”
